Following the Government directive regarding 'E' Government 2005, Data Insight was encountering an ever increasing demand for its services. This forced us to look at the expansion of our staff resources and the issues of cost effective prices. In 2002 Data Insight decided to explore the advantages of working with 'offshore' service providers. We saw this development as an essential part of our future strategy.

It would have been easy to select an offshore company, sub contract the work and to 'sit back' and wait for the final product to arrive. After all, the art of digitisation is simple, or so it is perceived.

But, the Directors and staff of Data Insight have worked hard to establish an excellent reputation for the services we offer. Experience has demonstrated that the art of digitisation is indeed not a difficult one but the interpretation and understanding of the data source you are digitising from requires a great deal of skill, knowledge and training.

Our investigations and subsequent trials with a couple of Indian sub contractors led us to the conclusion that setting up our own associate company was by far the safest commercial risk. Data Insight India was established in 2003.

Using our own local staff gives us the benefit of using highly qualified individuals who have been specifically trained in the skills of GIS and digitisation for the UK. The work ethic of Data Insight India staff and their commitment to producing data of a quality to the same standards as Data Insight Ltd staff has been one of the real bonuses of this venture.

The staff are keen to work in the UK and to learn more about the techniques used by the parent company. Our own staff also enjoy going to India to train them in the interpretation skills required.

This continued close relationship is encouraged by both companies. It ensures a consistency of both the approach and the execution of the digitisation process. It also enables Data Insight Ltd to 'ramp' up its operation in the UK to meet the challenge of clients aspirations to complete large projects quickly.
