LLPG Preparation
Data Insight use a different approach to others. We believe in the saying, 'a picture paints a thousand words'.
Using GIS to classify property addresses by colour has enabled us to produce remarkably accurate yet fast results.
All local authorities have been tasked with the onerous job of creating a local gazetteer of their properties and streets in preparation for
submitting it to the ODPM as part of the national directive.
Generally a team of officers are deployed to use their local knowledge to address match properties using databases such as housing,
electoral register, council tax and NNDR. This process is long winded given that wading through information in databases is far from an easy
or welcome task.
By attaching the addresses from the various databases to OS datasets such as Addresspoint, we are able to colour code the map and
visually spot where addresses do not match. These mismatches are subsequently colour coded as anomalies and put aside to be resolved
when further local authority address databases are geocoded to the same features.
We believe that working closely with local authority staff and liaising on ambiguities found during the process is key to producing a
successful LLPG project.
Our method of approach has been extremely successful; recently working closely with a local authority, Data Insight presented a LLPG
to NLPG Hub with only 50 rejections out of 600,000 records in 6 months.
GIS/EDMS Linking
Data Insight have developed a service that links spatial vector features with their associated scanned documents.
The net result is that a user can view a feature in GIS and by simply clicking a button can view all the related images in their EDMS.
Customers who have GIS can take advantage of Data Insight's skills to have all of their spatial features linked back to their Electronic
Document Management System.
