Text Entry

For Data Insight to provide textual data of the highest quality, text from hard copy is entered into databases using double entry methods as our commitment to achieving as close as possible to 100% accuracy.

Different operators enter the same textual data to MS Access databases. The operators are not allowed to confer on opinions of spelling etc.

Bespoke software, written by Data Insight, is used for double entry text comparison for maximum accuracy.

Where records are found to be correct, they are automatically saved to the final database. Where records have one or more fields with errors, the compare software will highlight the errors. These records are retained in a temporary database awaiting further quality control and correction.

When all checks have been completed, the textual data will be recompiled in a format suitable for transfer to IDOX/Caps Uniform or similar products.

Also, the text entry can be linked to the digitised graphics where relevant, and a consistency check run to identify mistakes in the digitising process.

Map Scanning and Geo-referencing

Data Insight offer a map scanning service only, and if required, a scanning and geo-referencing service where maps can be viewed in association with Ordnance Survey digital mapping.

We will take your hard copy colour or black and white maps and produce high quality map images suitable for viewing in your GIS or other viewing software.

Maps will be Geo-referenced using Erdas Imagine software utilising modern Ordnance Survey map features such as buildings, field boundaries, etc.

Scans are visually checked using GIS for image distortion such as skewing and warping. If distortion is encountered the map will be re-scanned and re-registered.

Part of our finalisation process is to prepare the map images so that they can be viewed in ArcGIS, MapInfo GIS or similar as an image library or a mosaic of seamless mapping.

Additionally, we can serve the resulting images directly on our web server for your immediate access within 30 minutes of a client's official request.

We do not use couriers. Data Insight will only collect maps using our own staff.
